La Veranda Restaurant Website Archive
This archived project shows an atmosphere-led restaurant website with mobile-friendly HTML menus, an online reservation pathway, and a dedicated functions enquiry page.
Project Overview
A refined dining experience, with a website that was losing them customers.
La Veranda is an Auckland hospitality brand offering refined dining and private events. The venue has a distinct atmosphere, warm, sophisticated, designed for occasions. But the existing website didn't communicate any of that. It loaded slowly, buried the menu behind a PDF link, and had no online reservation capability.
First-time diners searching for a venue for a birthday, anniversary, or corporate dinner were landing on the site and leaving, moving to competitors with better-presented menus and easier booking options. The goal was to build a site that sold the experience before guests walked through the door.
The Challenge
A PDF menu and no online reservations were costing them covers every week.
The existing menu was a PDF that was awkward to read on mobile and separated important dining information from the main website experience. Rebuilding the menu as HTML made the content easier for guests to browse and easier for search engines to interpret in context.
For those who did arrive on the site, there was no way to make a reservation online. The only option was a phone number. For a dining venue where many bookings happen at 10pm when someone is planning their Saturday, that's a significant conversion problem.
What We Built
An atmosphere-first website with HTML menus and online reservations.
We rebuilt the site with an atmosphere-forward design, full-width food and venue photography, warm tones that match the in-venue experience, and typography that communicates occasion dining. HTML menu pages replaced the PDF, making the full menu readable on mobile and visible to Google's indexing.
Table reservation capability was integrated directly into the site, guests can select date, time, and party size without a phone call. A dedicated functions and events page was built with capacity details and a private dining enquiry form, often the highest-margin bookings for a restaurant.
The Results
A restaurant experience designed to be understood before a guest arrives.
The project brought the menu, venue atmosphere, reservations, and private-event information into one responsive experience. This is an archived former client project; the former client domain no longer hosts the website shown here.
